5 Tips to Transition your Skincare to Spring

5 Tips to Transition your Skincare to Spring

As Spring blossoms, increased sun exposure and allergens in the air require daily SPF, anti-inflammatory ingredients and antioxidants to keep skin happy and healthy. I'm a big proponent of seasonal skincare which is why I recommend making a few adjustments to follow the needs of the skin based on the elements that surround it.
  1. Start increasing exfoliation to 2x/week with both a chemical and light physical exfoliant like the Refine Polishing Scrub or the Illuminate Enzyme Cleansing Powder from Green Envee.
  2. Switch to a medium weight moisturizer rich in antioxidants like Green Envee's Protect Antioxidant Moisturizer or Environ's Antioxidant Defense Creme.
  3. As outdoor activity increases, wear at least an SPF30 everyday on the face and body. I recommend MDSolarSciences Daily Perfecting Moisturizer SPF30 or Gleam and Glow SPF 50.
  4. If you were skipping a toner during the drier winter months, incorporate a gentle toner like Environ’s Botanical Infused Moisturising Toner with lactic and niacinamide to keep skin clear and pigment at bay.
  5. Switch to a gel-based cleanser to thoroughly cleanse excess oil and sunscreen like Green Envee's Clarify Cleansing Gel.
  6. BONUS! You can continue using retinol. For a gentle retinol to take you into summer, I love MDSolarScience's MD Revitalize Retinol Serum to target fine lines, reduce breakouts and even out pigmentation.

It's always important to remember that the needs of the skin differs from person to person. To discover what skincare the best fit for you, book a virtual or in-person consult at Kate O'Grady Skincare here.
